Warmonger to contest G1 South Australian Derby

After a close second placing in the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas and a terrific run in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes last weekend, the 3-year-old gelding Warmonger continues onto the Group 1 South Australian Derby this Saturday.

Warmonger runs 2nd by 0.1 length in the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas

The quick back-up between races shouldn’t be a problem for Warmonger, and trainer Mick Price has been most positive in his recent update to owners.

“It’s a nice little race, but the horse is fit and sound, and his last run was enormous. We decided to take the blinkers off and hope he can jump into a better position. Damian Lane is back on, and he will handle the 2500m, no worries,” commented Price.

An impressive Listed winner in his last preparation at Flemington over the Cup Carnival, the 3yo continues to step up in his races and is a most competitive black-type racehorse. We hope to see another strong performance from him this weekend.

Best of luck to all the connections involved.
