There are many unique experiences that come from buying a share in a racehorse, and a key focus of OTI is to educate our clients about what happens in the ‘day to day’ running of racing stables. Farrier Insight with Jason Brettle from Chris Waller Racing

Jason Brettle has been a loyal farrier to Chris Waller Racing for a number of years and has been responsible for horses like Winx as well as many OTI horses. Jason has enjoyed the success, but also helped share in the pressure of dealing with some of the best horses in the world. In this video he shows us the shoeing process which is an integral part of a horses racing career and long term welfare.

Jump Outs

This feature highlights the importance of ‘jump outs’ in Australia. We follow one of OTI’s horses from her warm up in the walker, to her trial, rider feedback and cooling down. Trainer Matt Cumani also discusses how he incorporates jump outs into each horse’s racing preparation.

 

Rehabilitation with Matthew Williams

Our next edition of “Behind the Scenes” sees us explore the rehabilitation achievements of Warrnambool trainer Matthew Williams. Williams has a number of OTI horses stabled at his property who have all relished in the personalised attention and round the clock care. The facilities available to the team have ensured an abundance of winners and rehabilitation success stories. Williams in conjunction with Ballarat vet Andrew Cust, have been integral elements in Gailo Chop’s return to the racetrack.

 

Joseph O’Brien – Ireland

During a trip to Europe, Terry Henderson visited Joseph O’Brien’s yard in Ireland and created a behind the scenes look into his incredible training facilities. This special feature provides a detailed insight into the differences in training from Australia to Europe. Terry was lucky enough to visit Joseph’s busy yard ‘Owning Hill’ in County Kilkenny. We hope you enjoy seeing the incredible gallops and how a stable of this size and calibre runs on a day to day basis.

 

Danielle Goodwin – The Daily Role of a Stablehand (Alexander Racing)

Follow Danielle Goodwin around the Archie Alexander stable and gain valuable insight into the role of a stablehand. You will see many elements make up their day to day routine, all to ensure our horses receive the best possible preparation.

 

Eggie Nicoud – Assistant to the Vet (Alexander Racing)

As a foreman at Alexander Racing, Eggie works closely with vet Dr Tom Dolan in providing veterinary care and treatment to all horses in Archie’s stable. In this video, you will discover the range of components that come together to make up the vital role. Tom also shares the processes he undertakes to monitor and manage the horses on a daily basis.

 

Alix Choppin – Tour of Chantilly

Alix Choppin takes you on a tour of the Chantilly Training Centre in France. With picturesque surroundings encompassing 140km of sand tracks and over 120 hectares of grass cantering courses it really is horse heaven!
