OTI Racing Weekend Preview | December 26, 2020

A quiet weekend of racing during the Christmas break, with three runners representing OTI around Australia.

Saturday

On Boxing Day at Caulfield, Night’s Watch contests the Listed Lord Stakes over 1700m (Race 8 – 5:10 pm). The Redwood gelding is second-up after a super impressive performance to finish 2nd at Pakenham a fortnight ago. Archie Alexander is pleased with him ahead of the race, commenting that he galloped well earlier in the week and is “showing all the right signs.” With Damian Lane riding from barrier 3, we expect to see him put in a very competitive effort.

Sunday

At Mornington, I Am Ready races in a 3yo Fillies Maiden over 1000m (Race 2 – 1:00 pm) for Lloyd Kennewell. The daughter of I Am Invincible is in superb form going into the race, having finished 2nd and 3rd in her last two starts respectively. She has had a short freshen up, and all reports from the stable indicate that she is ready to run a big race. Jordan Childs is booked to ride from barrier 8.

Penshurst returns to the races at Murwillumbah following a six-month spell. The Fastnet Rock gelding will contest the Ballina Cup Prelude over 1550m (Race 4 – 3:15 pm) with Luke Dittman jumping from barrier 4. Matthew Dunn is happy with the horse’s progression and was pleased with his recent trial performance. He has come back in great shape, and we’re expecting to see him finishing off strongly.

Best of luck to all connections!
