OTI are delighted to be involved with Hezashocka

We are pleased to announce lightly raced New Zealand stayer Hezashocka will join the OTI stable.

The son of 2009 Melbourne Cup hero Shocking has been most impressive in his three career starts to date, breaking his maiden at Group 2 level in the Trelawney Stud Championship Stakes over 2100 metres late last month with an eye-catching performance.

His tenacity and will to win was on display in that event, settling midfield and covering extra ground on straightening. From there, he continued to reel in the leaders before digging deep to fend off a host of rivals over the concluding stages.

Hesashocka’s dam Shezakiwi hails from a pedigree littered with proven stakes performers, including her dual Group 3 placed half-sister Kiwi Lady and Listed-placed half-brother Oriental Prophet.

A majority interest in Hezashocka has been secured from the astute Shaun & Emma Clotworthy yard and will now press on towards the Queensland Derby.

Beyond the Queensland carnival, Hezashocka will remain on Australian soil in the care of a Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr who have joined OTI in the acquisition.

“Hezashocka is a lovely well conformed individual with an athletic frame and loose action,” said Terry Henderson. “He fits the mould of what we seek in all our staying acquisitions.”
