Coppleson, the Chris Waller-trained 3yo gelding impressed on debut when breaking his maiden in good style and is now ready to return to the races for his second up run.
Waller said “He has come through his impressive maiden win without any problems. He has eaten well since the race which would indicate he has taken no harm from the run.“
After nearly a month between runs, we will see him step out for his second start at Hawkesbury, NSW on Thursday. Originally nominated for Wyong last week, Waller decided against running the 3yo from an awkward barrier.
“He has trained on well since his first up win and is a nice horse going forward. The 1600m should suit.“
Coppleson will start in the 1600m Class 1 (Race 3 – 2:10pm), where he’s drawn barrier 8 in a field of 8 with Brenton Avdulla booked to ride at 57kgs (full field and all race details here).
We look forward to seeing him at the races and hope he can repeat his debut performance. Another forward showing could see him aimed at a race like the 2000m Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes later in the spring.
Best of luck to all connections!
