British import Cepheus has previously shown that he is indeed a class horse, winning the Listed PR Arcangues at Deauville in December 2020, before travelling to Australia and placing 3rd in the Group 2 Hill Stakes at Randwick in only his fourth start.
Returning from an injury enforced lay off, he has shown very promising performances in his last two starts where he finished 2nd and 3rd by a length and less.
Trainer Matt Dunn comments: “He pulled up well after his last run and had a nice gallop yesterday morning, I’m very happy with his condition, he looks a million bucks. He will travel down to Sydney now and will be ready to start in the Group 2 Ajax Stakes on Saturday at Rosehill.”

A few options could open up for Cepheus’ future race plans if he were to run well in the Group 2 this Saturday. Nominated for the Group 1 Doncaster Handicap, a first crack at an Australian Group 1 for the 6yo gelding remains a possibility.
Best of luck to all involved!
