The weekly review and preview | November 28, 2016

A brief look back at our recent runners.

La Dalliance (2nd) ran a strong first up race for Archie Alexander on Thursday over 1400m at Bendigo. The filly has obviously matured mentally since her last prep and should improve off this run, hopefully she can break her maiden next start.

Renew (7th) put in a serviceable effort over 1600m on Saturday at Moonee Valley. He jumped well, settling mid-field and finishing to the line strongly. He will need a few more runs to get over the right distance but this was a promising performance.

Master Zephyr (2nd) was back to his good form on Saturday at Moonee Valley over 2040m. With a wide gate, he had a tough run being 3-4 wide, he finished very strongly through the line. Looking forward to his next run.

Thanos (5th) jumped well from the gate on Monday at Hamilton in a 1400m maiden but failed to hold out to the line. He is still young and this is his third race start, we should see improvement during this prep.

Coming up this week….

Night’s Watch is set for his race debut at Pukekohe, NZ on Wednesday over 1400m. Being one of our exciting new Derby prospects, this run has been highly anticipated. The trainer has been very happy with his trials and work leading into the race.

Stone Warrior has accepted for a 1300m maiden at Bendigo on Wednesday. After a good trial leading into the run, we hope to see this boy show his excellent turn of foot to finish strongly. Lee has been pleased with him this prep and has applied winkers for this race, he should be hard to beat.

Praecereus may start at Bendigo on Wednesday in a BM70 over 1300m. The Weir stable have been very happy with his work leading into this first up run.

Azurite has been nominated for a BM78 race on Friday night at Moonee Valley over 3000m. Backing up from a good 2nd place at the Valley over the same distance, should be hard to beat.

Fastnet Squall may run over 2400m on Friday at Salon-De-Provence in France.

Romancer is stepping out on Saturday for a 1300m Listed race at Ellerslie in New Zealand. A very promising NZ bred and trained 3yo by Redwood, the stable are thrilled with him in the lead up to this race.

Gallic Chieftain has been nominated for a BM78 over 2000m at Pakenham on Saturday. Unlucky in the run last start and wanting further, he managed to finish very strongly. He has shown some promising signs and over the longer journey, should be in the finish.

Caillebotte may run at Eagle Farm on Saturday in a BM80 over 1825m.

Plymouth Road is aimed for a BM78 over 2000m on Saturday at Pakenham. This young-stayer will be hoping for a little give in the track for an improved performance of his last start.

Lord Van Percy is set to start in the Listed Pakenham Cup on Saturday over 2500m. LVP’s prep has been aimed towards this race and he is coming into it with good fitness and form. Let’s hope we see him back in the winners circle!
