Vela set for Great career under Fabre

Tonight, OTI has a two-year colt by the name of Vela making his race debut in the Prix Hunyade 2-yr old Maiden at Saint Cloud, France. Trained by Andre Fabre, Vela will race over 1200m around the left-handed track at Saint Cloud.

Vela is a son of upcoming French stallion Pedro the Great. Vela has been named after one of the great ‘Pedro’s’ of the southern hemisphere – Pencarrow Stud and New Zealand Bloodstock’s own Sir Peter Vela.  Ethereal and Darci Brahma are but just two of the long list of thoroughbred stars that Peter has bred and/or raced to success.

It was trainer Andre Fabre who suggested that Terry Henderson take a look at this colt as a yearling in 2017.  Andre wished to train the horse and was looking for an owner to buy him.  Andre Fabre is regarded as one of the best trainers in the world and has won major races all around the world including Dubai, The United States, Hong Kong and all over Europe.  OTI has enjoyed significant success with Andre, with horses including Au Revoir and Montclair graduating to Group winners under his care.

It all lay ahead for Vela and it starts tonight.  He will jump from barrier six of ten and will be ridden by  P.C Boudot, carrying 58.5kgs.

The race is scheduled to start at 10.50pm (AEST) and can be viewed on Sky Racing 2.
