Two Spring Stayers

OTI’s two runners this weekend are exciting stayers that may look to target feature races during the 2018 Melbourne Spring Carnival.

The Darren Weir-trained Kellstorm returns to Morphettville where he strung three successive wins together last campaign. The striking entire is a full brother to the multiple Group 1 winner, Order of St George.

Kellstorm displayed his true talent and ability during his first Australian campaign notching four wins from his 11 starts. Additionally, he was able to finish third in the Group 3 Bart Cummings at Flemington. In spite of carrying the 60kg impost, his class should see him most competitive in the favourable soft conditions.

On Sunday night, Casterton will tackle the 3000m Group 2 Prix Kergorlay at Deauville, France.  This race is rich in history and has become a vital guide to the Melbourne Cup with Americain,  Dunedin and Protectionist all coming through the race.

The 2018 Prix Kergorlay looks another strong addition featuring many quality stayers, including last year’s winner Marmelo.

Andre Fabre has always held Casterton in high regard. The son of Fastnet Rock has already won twice at Listed level and ran well in other Group events. This will be his last run in France before heading to Australia. Recent rain in the Deauville area will suit and Andre expects the entire to run very well.
