Two Listed runners line up in OTI colours on the weekend

In-form gelding Hezashocka will step out again on the weekend, taking his place in the Listed Caloundra Cup on the Sunshine Coast, while Green Fly will fly the flag at Flemington in the Listed Winter Championship Series Final.

It has been a terrific campaign for the connections of Hezashocka, with the 6yo collecting a Listed and Group 3 win in the last couple of months. After a long time between wins from July 2022, the son of Shocking seems to be in career best form and has been thriving in the Price/Kent Sydney & Sunshine Coast stables.

Hezashocka wins the Listed Gosford Gold Cup at Newcastle in May 2024.

“He worked super on the grass. The race will suit him well and we still have a bit of rain to come, which will help. We’ve booked Vlad Duric to ride, he’s very experienced and has been very successful in Queensland in the last couple months. We expect the horse to go really well on Saturday.”, said trainer Mick Price to connections.

Hezashocka will jump from barrier 10 and will carry 60kgs. See the full field and all race details here.

In Victoria, we have Green Fly taking his place in the Listed Winter Championship Series Final at Flemington over 1600m. The gelding last recorded a win during the May Warrnambool Racing Carnival, followed by an impressive 2nd at Flemington.

Green Fly wins at Warrnambool in May 2024.

“He pulled up super after his jump-out last Friday at Werribee. He feels fresh and is in good order for the Winter Championship Series Final on Saturday. If we can get the ground to suit, he should be right in the finish in a competitive field.”, commented trainer Sam Freedman.

Green Fly will carry 54kg from barrier 2 with Jye McNeil booked to ride. See all race details and the full field here.

Both horses look to have a good chance in competitive races on the weekend. Best of luck to all connections involved. Our full weekend preview video will be out later this week!
