Toregene continues progression towards Oaks’ Day Country Final

After a great win at Cranbourne last start, which secured her a spot in the Country Series Final on Oaks Day, Toregene will now head to Bendigo for a BM78 Handicap before making the trip to Flemingon on Thursday week.

The mare has impressed in her short career to date with three wins from four starts and looks like she’s got plenty more to give.

Trainer Matthew Williams says “She had a nice gallop at Terang last week, it was probably as good as she ever worked, maybe even her best gallop. With the run under her belt she can hopefully switch off a bit better than what we know and with a little tempo in the race I think she is a very good winning chance again.”

“We don’t want her going into the Final too keen, so the run should take that away and we will be ready to step up to a mile.”

With the drop in weight to 55kg, the 4yo should be competitive on Wednesday, even with the step up in class. Dean Yendall will be back on board, having ridden her to victory at Cranbourne.
