In a satisfying result for connections, Under Your Spell posted OTI’s first win on South African soil last night when taking out the Pinnacle Stakes at Turffontein.
Aided by a confident ride from Calvin Habib, the mare closed off the race powerfully, proving too strong for the short-priced favourite in the final stages. It was certainly a well-deserved victory for the Sean Tarry-trained 4yo, having finished close up in her previous three starts this preparation including a 2nd at Group 2 level.
A previous Group 1 winner in South Africa, she was initially purchased with the intention of a move across to Europe, however travel barriers have frustratingly delayed her venture. Hopefully, in the coming months, the talented mare will get her chance to further enhance her credentials in European company.
She poses as a most exciting broodmare proposition for connections down the track, given her terrific race record and strong pedigree.
