Promising staying prospect to don the navy blue and gold

Promising staying prospect Aesop will debut for OTI and our connections this Saturday at Cork.

The Jessica Harrington-trained galloper will resume over 2000m, a distance in which he brought up his maiden success at last July.

She said the four-year-old British bred talent is a gorgeous, big and strong horse, who has developed into an imposing specimen throughout his winter break.

“I am delighted by Aesop’s progress this winter; he is a gorgeous big strong horse with a great attitude, and I think he could have a very big season ahead of him,” Harrington said.

“He has a very good pedigree; his sire Make Believe seems very much on an upward curve and from what I’ve seen from them they improve with age.

“I am aiming him at all the nice 10-14-furlong races, and I may step him up to two-miles throughout the season.”

Our CEO Terry Henderson confirmed the son of Sadima to be in fantastic order ahead of his first up attempt, stating that he has worked well and is ready produce a forward showing, despite having spent more than seven months on the sidelines.

The well-bred gelding goes around well off at the weights and we are hopeful that he can draw a gate and be given every chance in transit.

“Jessica (Harrington) couldn’t be happier with the horse, he moved really well in his work today,” Henderson said.

“He had a bit of a blow and the race will bring him on. However, he’s going into the race in very good condition.

“He will be well handicapped and is ready to run a good race, we are excited to see how he goes, and I think Jessica has some big plans in store.”
