Potential Oaks Filly joins the OTI stable

One only needs to look at Aloisia’s most recent New Zealand replay to see what a bright future this 2YO filly has ahead.

A veteran of just two starts, Aloisia has shown a lethal turn of foot at the end of her races after struggling to keep up with the sharp 1200M tempo in the initial stages. On debut, she was the only horse on the day to break 35 secs for the last 600M before last start hammering home into second in a strong 2YO race against the males.

The filly’s sire is Azamour (pictured above) . An Irish-born stallion who’s produced 34 individual stakes winners headed by the Group 1 Sheema Classic winner, Dolniya. Aloisia’s dam, Queen Boudicca, ran third in the Group 2 Matamata Breeders Stakes and is herself a half-sister to the outstanding NZ 2YO, Canned Heat.

The filly is on her way to Australia, arriving April 5. With her most recent run having been in late-March the plan will be to hit the ground running and target a race towards the end of April. The longer-range plan will be to have her primed for a solid spring tilt with aspirational targets being the 1000 Guineas, Wakeful and ultimately the VRC Oaks.

Ciaron Maher was seen as the ideal trainer for Aloisia and the Caulfield-based trainer was delighted to take the filly.  Maher has had huge success in the VRC Oaks having won in both 2014 and 2015 with Set Square and then the Caulfield Cup winning, Jameka.

This filly has a strong breeding page and proven racetrack ability. She’s only going to improve over the coming months and she will relish getting out over longer trips.
