Pariah filly impresses in early education

OTI’s Pariah filly, Self Worth, continues to impress in her early education, as plans are paved for a spring debut.

The beautifully bred yearling, who is out of the black-type mare, Sense of Pride, recently completed the break-in process and is set to join Matt Cumani’s Ballarat stables in the coming weeks.

OTI’s General Manager Shayne Driscoll said that the filly was ticking all the right boxes, and the team are looking forward to seeing her progress towards a debut in the second half of the year.

“She initially caught our attention with her striking and athletic physique, as well as her quality bloodlines,” Driscoll said.

“Cumani’s breaker, Marty Lacey, was exceptionally pleased with her early development, indicating that she has excelled during her break in education.

“She is enjoying a few weeks off down at the Bellarine Peninsula before she will enter training and begin her preparation with Matt Cumani.

“We have our sights set on a spring 2020 debut and expect her to be a very precocious two-year-old,” Driscoll added.

Pariah, a son of champion stallion Redoute’s Choice, has been tipped as the up-and-coming sire in Arrowfield Stud’s roster, with many believing he will follow in the footsteps of Not A Single Doubt.

Pariah’s first crop of yearlings has been highly sought after at this year’s sales. At the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in January, Pariah’s progeny averaged $136,000, and in Book 1 at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, they averaged $163,750.

On the filly’s dam side, listed placed Sense of Pride has already produced three winners, including Group 1 placed, Foxborough.

With all costs, including insurance, paid to the end of the season (July 31, 2021), a 5% interest in Self Worth is $5,050 plus GST.
