Two talented stayers will represent OTI and our connections this weekend both locally and internationally. Our colours will feature at Randwick on Saturday and in the French entity of La Palmyre on Sunday.
Saturday
After the unfortunate withdrawal of Quick Thinker, who won the Group Two Chairman’s Quality last weekend, we are left with just the one runner at Saturday’s Championships Day Two meeting.
Randwick
The Chris Waller-trained Selino is the sole OTI representative in the time-honoured Group 1 Sydney Cup (Race 7 – 3:05pm). The lightly raced five-year-old looks set to peak here stepping out over a desirable two-mile trip. Waller has made his tactics known, indicating that he would like Selino to roll forward from barrier 13 and hold a more prominent position. Despite the awkward draw we are confident that the son of Champs Elysees can measure up with only 50kgs and the astute Ron Stewart on his back.
Sunday
Royan La Palmyre (FR)
Lightly raced talent Schwanensee steps out for the first time since last November in a Class 4 handicap (Race 3 – 11:00pm AEST) over 2300m. Trained by Antoine de Watrigant the progressive 4-year-old is continuing to develop, and we expect her to take plenty of improvement from her first-up effort. We are continuing to learn about the promising daughter of Tiberius Caesar and are excited for what lies ahead.
Good luck to all of the connections!
