OTI Racing Weekend Preview | January 8, 2021

Following an exciting trio of wins to start 2021 on a high note, four runners will represent OTI in Australia and New Zealand this weekend.

Friday

Zipitsweetie kicks off the weekend on Friday afternoon when she contests a Benchmark 58 over 2000m at Stawell (Race 8 – 5:00 pm). We’re putting a line through her disappointing run at Warrnambool last start and expect to see an improved performance this time around. Trainer Archie Alexander reports that the mare has been working well in the lead up to the race and with Harry Coffey taking the ride from barrier 12, we expect to see her hitting the finish line strongly.

Saturday

Excelebration gelding Nassidio continues his preparation in a 2044m Maiden at Werribee (Race 2 – 1:46 pm). The 4yo will appreciate the step up in distance and trainer Mitch Freedman hopes to see him demonstrate his excellent gate speed before settling into the race and finishing off nicely. Jarrod Fry is booked to ride from barrier 6.

Vee Cece headlines our weekend runners when she steps out in the Listed Marton Cup over 2200m (Race 7 – 2:15 pm AEDT) at Awapuni in New Zealand. The Baker/Forsman stable are optimistic that she will put her best foot forward with Samantha Collet aboard. Should things go to plan, the race will potentially pave the way for the mare to head to the Wellington Cup later this month.

Sunday

At Warrnambool, Raffish races in a Maiden over 1700m (Race 3 – 2:30 pm). Archie Alexander reported that he has come on since his first-up run and is in great form going into the race. With Declan Bates in the saddle, we believe he will put in a very competitive effort and is a big chance.

Best of luck to connections!
