Manndawi to debut for Matt Dunn

Manndawi is a striking individual with a story to tell. The near-white 7YO son of Dalakhani who started his career in France now finds himself the world away at Matt Dunn’s Murwillumbah stable.

Out of the broodmare, Mintly Fresh, Manndawi is a half-brother to Manighar. Manighar is OTI’s most successful horse having won three Group 1 races (Australia Cup, Ranvet and BMW).

As a 3YO in 2013, Manndawi displayed tremendous promise. At just his third start he ran fourth in the Group 3 Longines over 2400M before an outstanding second in the Group 1 Prix De Paris at Longchamp. At the time, Manndawi was considered one of the most promising horses in France.

After an extended layoff, Manndawi resumed at the Curragh in June 2015 and was a pleasing third at stakes level before he was subsequently moved to Australia. He ran a strong placing in the 2015 Geelong Cup.

The decision was made to move Manndawi to Matt Dunn’s Murwillumbah stable at the back-end of 2016. Dunn has impressed OTI through his deeds with Caillebotte who has become a multiple city winner in Brisbane since moving north.

Manndawi will make his long-awaited resumption over 1666M at Ipswich on Saturday (Race 3, 12.42pm). He goes into the race off a fast-finishing fourth in a Murwillumbah trial and a competitive run can be expected. OTI would like to wish all partners the very best ahead of Saturday’s race.
