Le Juge headlines OTI’s chances this weekend

OTI kicks off a busy weekend at Cranbourne this evening, with two chances under lights. Tiifu takes her place in the 1600m Maiden following a promising 4th at this course and distance last start, where she arguably should have finished a lot closer. She faces a tougher affair this time and will be better suited to a rise in distance next start, but with luck in running we should see her hit the line strongly.

Hutchinson extends out to the 2520m journey (Benchmark 64 Handicap) tonight after an even performance at Echuca last start. He’s a tough horse to get a gauge on, but with a more senior rider aboard and a journey that matches his pedigree, we will hopefully see him return to his best form.

Barade is our lone runner at The Valley on Saturday as he contests the 2500m Benchmark 78 Handicap. His form on paper looks below par but he can figure in this race. He has worked well with the blinkers on and will be ridden more forward, which will hopefully see him return to form in style.

Mighty Quinn looks unlikely to gain a run in the 1800m Class 3 Handicap at Eagle Farm on Saturday, needing a further three scratchings overnight. He’s drawn the widest barrier but looks to be back on track after running a game 4th at Sunshine Coast last Friday.

OTI will launch a two-pronged attack on the 1600m Listed Bernborough Handicap at Eagle Farm, with Le Juge and Master Zephyr at varying stages in their preparations. Master Zephyr is kicking off his campaign and has been known to run a nice race when fresh. Connections would love to see him hit the line well, knowing that we won’t see his best until he’s out to 2000m and beyond.

Le Juge has been luckless this preparation, which was highlighted last start in the Brisbane Handicap when crossing the line full of running. He’s drawn to have a soft run and will continue his strong association with Robbie Fradd. A win on Saturday would be well deserved for all involved.

Best of luck to all connections!
