Five chances to deliver an early Xmas present

Mighty Quinn will kick off a handful of runners over the pre-Xmas period that gives OTI an opportunity to receive some early Christmas glee. After promising much early in his career, he has been disappointing of late.  However, on the back of a positive trial last week in Queensland, we are hopeful of an improved showing tonight in the 1800m Class 1 Handicap.

After a visit to Rosemont Stud resident Starspangledbanner, Angelic Spirit will return to the races in foal on Saturday, coming off an impressive trial win at Cranbourne two weeks ago. It will be the first time she has tackled the Flemington straight, which looms as a positive for the free-rolling mare, who will take her place in the 1200m Benchmark 78 Handicap. Although Angelic Spirit has been inconsistent at times, she’s never been short of talent, which she’ll hopefully display in full flight on Saturday.

Dark Pearl is set to contest the 2000m Benchmark 88 Handicap at Randwick on Saturday following an even performance last start. Although he faces a tough test in a competitive eight-horse field, he should get an ideal run in transit to show his staying constitution and bounce back to form.

On Sunday, we turn our attention to Sale, where Our Insider will contest the 1411m Maiden Plate second-up. Charlotte Littlefield is thrilled with the way he has improved off his Australian debut run at Warrnambool on Jericho Cup Day, and the step-out to in distance is sure to suit him.

In the late hours of Sunday night, Demeter will carry the OTI silks at Deauville, France in the 1500m 2yo Fillies Maiden. She showed a great deal of promise in her debut run at Chantilly in early-November, where she was held-up badly in the straight before flashing home for third. Nicolas Clement sees a great deal of ability in the filly, so we hope to see her breaking the maiden status at start number two.

Best of luck to all connections and happy racing!
