Kellstorm impresses in Australian debut

The impeccably bred son of Galileo, Kellstorm, produced a stellar first-up win at Warrnambool on Wednesday. Trained by Darren Weir, the entire is a full-brother to the multiple Group 1 winner, Order Of St George.

Kellstorm showed glimpses of good ability in his five starts in the United Kingdom before being purchased by OTI and transported to Australia.

The flashy chestnut certainly commands attention in the mounting yard and his appearance on Wednesday is testament to the work the Weir stable have done.

There was little expectation heading into Kellstorm’s Australian debut over the unsuitably short 1400M. His trials had been modest, albeit he had shown improvement, the Weir stable were hoping to see the 4YO hit the line with an eye to future races over further.

Ridden by Brad Rawiller, Kellstorm drifted back to the second half of the field and always travelled comfortably for the expert hoop. Coming to the home bend he moved into the race strongly before taking the lead in the shadows of the post for a narrow, but decisive win.

Exact plans for Kellstorm are undecided at this stage, but being lightly-raced he will be slowly progressed through his grades. OTI would like to congratulate all partners on Wednesday’s win and hopefully it’s the first step in an exciting journey.
