Irish Import Set to Debut

OTI and connections are excited to see their Irish import Eaglemont make his Australian debut at Sandown on Wednesday. He steps out in the 1600m Benchmark 64 (Race 4, 2:10pm) from barrier 1 with apprentice Matthew Cartwright aboard.

The Camelot gelding, named after the Melbourne suburb, impressed at the breeze up sales in France where purchased by Terry Henderson. Under the tutelage of Joseph O’Brien at his Irish-based stable, he made his race debut as a three-year-old, winning over 2100m and placed twice further during his six starts before leaving for Australia.

Since arriving in Australia, the Maher & Eustace stable have been very happy with how Eaglemont has adjusted to the Southern Hemisphere environment.  Should he handle the soft conditions, we can look for a strong finish from our handsome newcomer.

We are all excited to see where Eaglemont’s career is headed and wish connections the best of luck at Sandown.
