Inverloch takes out G3 Easter Cup

Six-year-old gelding Inverloch has been racing in terrific form all preparation and was rewarded with a Group 3 win at Caulfield on Saturday.

Assuming his regular position on speed, jockey Mick Dee rated the horse beautifully throughout before making his run for home well before the turn, exactly as instructed.

“It was a great effort. He has come back in distance and won before. It is important to get going early on him. At about the 800m you need to get working on him” said co-trainer Natalie Young post-race.

After winning over the same course and distance on March 14 in the Listed Mornington Cup Prelude, the son of Fastnet Rock went on to finish 2nd in his two subsequent starts.

His overall record now reads an impressive 7 wins and 6 minor placings from just 23 starts.

The Listed Warrnambool Cup (2350m) on May 7 has been identified as a short-term goal. With a demonstrated liking for soft ground, it appears a suitable target well within his reach.
