Penseur, a rising two-year-old colt selected by OTI as a juvenile, is now in work with Mitch Freedman at his Ballarat stables. He is a most attractive type, and he has been given plenty of time to mature before being put into work, allowing him to develop into an outstanding individual.
Standing at approximately 15.3 hands, he is a well-conformed, fluent walker and he possesses a great temperament.
Penseur is by So You Think, the sire of OTI’s ATC Derby winner Quick Thinker. Now the producer of multiple Group One winners including D’Argento, La Bella Diosa, Coolmore has raised his service fee to $70,000 plus GST for the 2021 season.
He is out of Loreto (by Toorak Toff), a winner and the daughter of the Champion broodmare sire, Sunday Silence. Being a half-sister to three black type winners in Hong Kong and Australia, Loreto’s half-sister, Come Sunday, also produced. ATC Derby winner, Ace High. This is an A+ pedigree!
After completing his early education with Ben O’Farrell, who was equally impressed with the colt, he is now undergoing his first preparation with Mitch Freedman. He is expected to debut at the races in the second half of his two-year-old career. He will be targeted towards Derbies in his 3yo year.
Mitch Freedman will train the colt from his Ballarat base, where premium facilities exist to give the colt every chance of success. Mitch has a proven record of training young staying types, highlighted by Moonlight Maid finishing 3rd in the 2019 VRC Oaks and 2nd in the 2020 Australasian Oaks. He also has Spirit of Gaylard, a promising Derby type in his care for OTI.
We look forward to the bright future of Penseur. If you would like to know more about him, please contact us here.
