International Brigade Arrives in Australia

Four talented imports arrived in Australia for OTI on Tuesday. With race form in both France & Germany, Rider in the Snow and Akatino are set to reach open grade soon after their arrival.

La Reconquista and Enosi are at the start of their careers and their connections look forward to them developing into quality racehorses. All four will now commence a period in quarantine before arriving into the stables of their new local trainers.

Rider in the Snow is a high class 5-year-old Intello gelding. A winner of three races and placed a further five times from ten career starts, he joins trainer Kris Lees in Newcastle. Demonstrating the talent of a Group performer, the French import will be targeted towards feature staying races in the spring.

Akatino was an incredible 24 length winner at Dortmund in what was his first run as a 3-year-old. A previous winner at two, the son of Sidestep has continued to develop into his 3-year-old year and promises to be an exciting middle-distance prospect.

Matt Smith has enjoyed success with fellow OTI import Attorney, a three-time winner in Australia, and is delighted to be training Akatino from his Warwick Farm stable.

La Reconquista is a classy French bred filly by in-form sire, Dark Angel. As the sire of three Royal Ascot winners in the past week, including Battaash in the G1 King’s Stand Stakes, we are excited to see her work through her grades in the early spring.

John O’Shea will train La Reconquista from his Randwick base. John has an outstanding record of success preparing fillies which highlights our confidence in him training this filly.

Enosi is a 3-year-old son of Champs Elysees. Yet to make his race debut, we believe he can rise through the grades under Australian conditions.

After spending his early education with Ed Dunlop at Newmarket, Enosi joins the Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr partnership at Caulfield. The team are enjoying a fantastic season and currently sit 4th on the Victorian Metropolitan Trainers Premiership.
