Insight into the Arqana Yearling Sales

The famous Arqana August Yearling Sale in Deauville, France wrapped up last week. With a new format this year where only the premium yearlings were offered, the three day turnover stood at a record €51,070,000 for the 238 yearlings sold, at a clearance rate of 83.5%. The top lot of the sale, a full brother to Arc winner Sottsass, fetched €2,100,000 to new Japanese connections.

Arqana Sales Impressions and Deauville Races

The sale was complemented by two terrific days of racing at Deauville, where OTI was fortunate enough to be represented by Athabascan in the Listed Prix Nureyev. The 3yo son of Almanzor impressed, staying on strongly into 3rd. A Group 3 test now awaits over 2400m in September.

Over the course of many years, OTI Racing has had much success sourcing quality horses from overseas, France in particular. A number of our most successful horses, including multiple G1 winners Gailo Chop and Manighar, and G2 winner San Huberto are just a few examples of those sourced from France.

It is always a pleasure to view the picturesque grounds from where these horses originate. OTI Racing takes great pride in our successful relationship with France, the source of 30 horses we currently have in training.
