In 2015 OTI made a bold move and purchased 13 Fastnet Rock colts direct from Coolmore, Ireland. All named after Victorian country towns, the group of yearlings included notable performers Casterton, Penshurst and Group 3 winner Inverloch.

On Friday, Inverloch will contest the Listed 2000m Wagga Wagga Gold Cup, despite a possible firm surface.
It was only a fortnight ago that the talented gelding finished fifth behind the Chris Waller-trained Yonkers at Caulfield. However, co-trainer Trent Busuttin is confident in his ability to perform fourth up, saying that he has continued to thrive since his last start.
Busuttin, who trains in partnership with Natalie Young, confirmed Inverloch to be in excellent order both physically and mentally, ahead of the $200,000 feature. The pair are confident he can turn the tables on the aforementioned
Yonkers.
“We’re not going to get the rain we were looking for, but he’s extremely well and has a nice gait,” Busuttin said.
“If we can get away with the firm surface, I think he will run a big race, as he’s very well and is as good as I have had him in a long time.”
Leading South East NSW jockey Matthew Cahill has been booked to ride and will be instructed to press forward from the low draw to maintain a prominent position. From there, we expect Inverloch to relax under Cahill and prove hard to run down at a distance that is right up his alley.
“We won’t change tactics. He will be up on speed either leading or being right thereabouts,” he said.
“We’ve got an experienced jockey on, and he [Cahill] will get the job done if the horse is good enough on the day.”
Good luck to all connections
