Recently acquired 2yo filly, Tigrais made an immediate impression in winning the Group 3 Prix La Rochette at Longchamp for her new co-owners, Gerard Augustin Normand and OTI.
A maiden winner four weeks ago at Deauville, the jump to Group 3 level was to be a challenge. The filly settled 4th in the 5-horse field and made her run from the 400m. She proved too strong over the concluding stages for the race favourite, Breizh Sky, with a couple of lengths back to 3rd.
Winning trainer Christopher Head said after the race “I was keen to prove to her new owners they had made a good investment. We took a gamble by pitching her into Group 3 company straight after winning her maiden. I am delighted”.
Tigrais may be seen next on the prestigious Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe race day in the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac over 1600m for two-year-old fillies.
As a filly who is likely to be better suited heading into her 3yo season, the future appears very bright.
