After narrowly finishing runner-up his last two starts, OTI Racing’s I’m Thunderstruck is ready to strike in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.
After a gallant effort to finish second in last week’s Doncaster Handicap, trainer Michael Kent Jnr expressed the stable’s awe at his quick recovery after contesting a heavy 10 track at Randwick.
“We’re very proud of him”, Kent said. “Mick [Price] and I had spoken about it (backing up in the Queen Elizabeth) during the week and we thought we were just going to give him a spell but honestly, we’ve never seen a horse pull up better from a race.”
I’m Thunderstruck has senior jockey Mark Zahra engaged to ride in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes. He will be jumping from barrier 6 and hopefully with enough luck, will storm home to win.
