Highly anticipated debut of talented 2YO at Sale on Wednesday

Angelic Spirit is an exciting filly that is set to make her debut at Sale tomorrow, in a 1200m Maiden at 2:45pm (AEST).

OTI acquired the filly as a Two-Year-Old on the back of a trial at Foxton in New Zealand almost eight months ago.  On that day, she sprinted past the early leaders in the last 100m, to win the 800m jump out by 2½ lengths.  She ran the quickest last 600m of the fifteen jump outs that day, in a time of 33.6 seconds.  She was also over half a second quicker than the other Two-Year-Old trials on the day and even ran a quicker last 600m than Group 1 winner Iamishwara.

Angelic Spirit has now been brought to Australia to race under the care of Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young at Cranbourne.  Since coming to Australia, the New Zealand bred Filly has impressed both OTI and her trainer greatly.

In her only public trial in Australia on the 6th of March 2017, she raced up at the 300m and stormed home under minimal riding for a dominant victory. Since then, the horses who subsequently finished second and third in the trial, have both broken their maidens.  On the day, she ran the second quickest time for Two-year-Old’s over 800m and was even quicker than some of the older horses over the 800m.

Since then she has been ticking over nicely and is finally ready to make her first start.  While she has looked very promising in her trials, we are expecting to relish further distances, as she appears to be a serious middle/long distance horse. Tomorrow she will carry 56kg’s and jump from barrier 4, with Zac Spain taking the ride.  Zac has completed the majority of his riding experience in Adelaide, but has recently made the move to Victoria and appears set to ride a great deal for the Busuttin/Young stable.

Good luck to all connections involved and hopefully Angelic Spirit lives up to her trial form.  Should she do so, she may well prove hard to beat.
