Hezashocka to seek G1 glory in Turnbull

Following another strong run at Flemington last Saturday, trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr are looking to test the gelding under Group 1 conditions in the Turnbull Stakes on October 1.

Finishing a close second in the 1700m Handicap at Flemington and winning his previous start at the same location makes Price hopeful he can be competitive at a higher level.

Hezashocka winning at Flemington over 2000m in July, 2022.

His Flemington track record supports that, having had four starts for two wins, a second and a sixth.

“He hasn’t shown the class of a horse that you think you would go straight to a G1, but the timing, the distance (2000m) and the course suits very well. He loves Flemington, so I think we’ll have a go.” said Price after Saturday’s race.

The gelding by Shocking, same sire as I’m Thunderstruck, lives and trains out of Warrnambool at Matthew Williams’ property. “It’s just the environment he needs”, said Price.

If he does win, it would certainly open up a lot of doors!
