Attorney has accepted for the 2300m Group 3 Newcastle Gold Cup at Newcastle on Friday (Race 6 – 4:05pm), where he’s drawn barrier 3 in a field of 9 with Regan Bayliss booked to ride at 54kgs.

The Matt Smith trained gelding returns to the races after a disappointing run at Randwick last start, where he quite simply didn’t handle the heavy ground. With fine weather and improving track conditions, Attorney find a more suitable surface.
“His work on Saturday morning was solid, he was strong to the line. With the weather being ok at the moment, we have used the opportunity and accepted for this Friday”, says trainer Matt Smith.
The 8-year-old has 5 career wins so far, including the Listed Pakenham Cup and G3 Colin Stephen Quality back in 2020. We hope he can find his winning form again this preparation!
