Future Score kicks off his preparation in emphatic style

Future Score gave connections a lot to be excited about on Saturday, winning first-up over a mile at Pakenham, taking his overall record to 5 wins from 12 starts.

The progressive son of Cape Cross took his place in the Hanson Handicap ($100,000) with Fred Kersley aboard, and although there was confidence he would run well, he most certainly wasn’t expected to be winning over the unsuitable journey of 1600m.

Fred Kersley executed the perfect ride, with Future Score able to settle in the one-one position from a wide draw. After travelling well, he levelled up in the straight and gradually wore down stakes-winner Odeon on the line to win by 0.1 lengths, showing a real will to win. The win first-up shows that he’s continued to develop and strengthen since his first Australia racing preparation.

Future Score has a long campaign in-store over the summer months, which will hopefully culminate in the Group 2 Adelaide Cup (3200m – $400,000) in March.

We can now look forward to his next start, which is likely to be at Caulfield in the Listed Lord Stakes (1700m – $140,000) on the 26th of December.
