With the first meeting back at The Valley this Saturday, we look forward to a possible exciting debut for 2yo gelding Auriel.
The son of Starspangledbanner only had his first official trial at the start of this month, but has shown great improvement since then. He won his second trial two weeks later in good style and both jockey Craig Newitt and trainer Trent Busuttin were more than pleased with the rising 3yo.
“This horse has come a long way in a short time! He improved massively from his first jumpout to his second. He responded well and put in a very encouraging performance. He’s been super in his work at home and the race on Saturday over 1000m suits well. We’ll be going into it with a bit of confidence.”, said Trent Busuttin in his post-trial update to owners.

Auriel is from a family that we know very well, having raced his dam Angelic Spirit, who won on five occasions for her connections. Hopefully the 2yo can follow in her path and create memorable racing moments for his owners.
