My work in preparation for the Cox Plate ramped up this morning when my training partner, Sea King and I were asked to run a solid 1200m around the Werribee track. After leaving our boxes at 7am, we walked a lap of the track before moving into a canter.
All seemed happy with the work, although I was somewhat puffed at the end of it. No doubt, when the boss reads the information from the equipment that tells him how we are doing, he’ll have an opinion on how well we are going.
We had a good pick of grass and a roll in the sand following our work, then returned to our boxes for a well earned breakfast. I’m told we will not be asked to work solidly again until next Thursday, when we will head to Moonee Valley for a gallop around the track. There, I’ll be introduced to Blake Shinn, who will ride me in the Cox Plate. I’m looking forward to it.
