Currumbin hoping to build on good first-up run

3yo gelding Currumbin made his debut for connections at the start of January at Dundalk. He finished third in a field of 14, beaten just 1.5 lengths. Currumbin pulled up sound after the race and is thriving according to trainer John O’Donoghue.

The 3yo will now step up in distance for his second career start over 2150m, again at Dundalk on Wednesday. Click here to view all race details and the full field.

O’Donoghue commented in the lead-up to Wednesday’s race: “He bounced back better than I expected and actually put on a bit more weight, which is a great sign. He is back into his canter routine and had two really good pieces of work. I was happy with his final breeze on Saturday. He quickened up nicely past a sharp lead horse”.

Currumbin presents as a most exciting racehorse, being so closely related to Tom Melbourne, Araaja and Fiorente. While he is still racing in Europe, he could potentially come to Australia at the end of this season, to compete in quality middle-distance and staying races.

Best of luck to all connections for Tuesday’s race.
