Not only are we excited for our Group 1 runners in Australia this weekend, but we also look forward to a possible Group 1 celebration in South Africa with 4yo mare Under Your Spell.
After a win in the Group 2 Hawaii Stakes last start, Under Your Spell is set to compete for a possible second career Group 1 win this Saturday.
Already a multiple Group winner, including the Group 1 Allan Robertson Championship in 2021 as a 2yo, the mare was destined for a European racing career, but due to some travel difficulties has remained in South Africa, racing on with success.
Saturday’s Group 1 Horse Chestnut Stakes will be run over 1600m with a field of 11 horses. Under Your Spell has drawn barrier 5 with jockey Luyolo Mxothwa booked to ride at 57.5kgs.
The 4yo has already proven to be a most talented, smart mare with great broodmare potential in the future. Hopefully, in the coming months, she will get her chance to further enhance her credentials in European company before starting her path as a most exciting broodmare proposition.
