Another Son of Shocking Added to the Stable

We are pleased to announce that another son of Shocking has been added to the OTI stable in recent times, through the purchase of a 50% interest in the 2yo gelding out of Acquisto, trained by Mitch Freedman in Ballarat.

OTI is experiencing a strong run with progeny of the sire, highlighted by the current Group 1 Toorak Handicap favourite, I’m Thunderstruck. Shocking is generally considered a producer of stayers, however when you note that another son of Shocking, Elephant, is on the second line of betting for the Toorak, he appears very capable of producing horses with brilliance, as well as stamina.

In addition to I’m Thunderstruck, OTI is already involved in Hezashocka (a Group 2 winner at his third start), Inverell (a winner on debut and now on a VRC Derby trail) and the 2yo brother of I’m Thunderstruck (yet to be named). The 2yo out of Acquisto is the fifth son of Shocking that OTI has joined ownership of in the past 18 months.

Already 16 hands, this well-built fellow will develop into a strong type. Physically, he is most attractive. He is out of the three-time winning mare Acquisto (the first foal won over 2100m) and the female side of the family is franked by the Group 2 placed Pure Pride (a half-brother to Acquisto, also being by Shocking).

The Shocking x Acquisto ’19 gelding on parade as a yearling.

We are looking forward to this 2yo stepping out in in the second half of this season. We then hope that he will make into a spring 2022 three-year-old. Whether he is best served over the mile or over further, time will tell.

Please contact oti@oti.com.au for further information on the plans for this 2yo.
