An Australian debut that creates excitement

Known as Creator in New Zealand, this 3yo son of Wrote joined us and the Price/Kent team earlier this year having impressively won his first two race starts. He will race in Australia as The Creator.

The Creator wins his first start at Tauranga, NZ in January 2023 (black/red silks, yellow cap).

The 3yo won his first race in January at Tauranga by 3 lengths and went on to win his second start at Matamata in very similar style. Once arrived in Australia in February, the gelding was given a short spell to acclimatise to his new home and entered pre-training a few weeks later. He joined Price & Kent’s Cranbourne base at the start of May and has been pleasing his track riders and trainers since.

After completing his first trial on the polytrack in Cranbourne, where he travelled well, The Creator was set for a second trial two weeks later, also at his home track. He strongly disliked the Heavy 10 surface that day, however he has taken good improvement from the outing.

Trainer Mick Price said after the trial “He’s a nice horse. Obviously the heavy ground doesn’t suit him, but he pulled up well the next day. I think Flemington will be our best option for better ground at this time of the year and the 1400m is perfect. He will race in blinkers as he’s done in New Zealand and hopefully should get the run of the race. He’s in good form, it’s a tricky little race, but I think he can run well.”

Wiremu Pinn will take the ride on the 3yo on Saturday and claims 2kg off the allocated 54kg. After galloping him on Tuesday, he was in good spirits and said the horse towed him to the line and was very strong throughout.

With his quirky characteristics, The Creator already has a fanbase forming leading into his Australian debut on Saturday. See the full field and all race details here.

Best of luck to all connections!
