Young Rascal Arrives Ahead of Spring Mission

After enjoying a five-week spell in NSW since his run in the Sydney Cup, Young Rascal has safely arrived into the care of his new trainer, Archie Alexander.

The arrival was much anticipated by Archie’s team at Ballarat. Monday was the first time Alexander had met his new charge. With a slight healthy winter coat and a kind eye, Young Rascal made an excellent first impression.

“He doesn’t look like a horse that’s just travelled 12 hours down in a truck. He looks really well and feels really well in himself.” Alexander said as Young Rascal got acquainted with his new surroundings.

After being given this week to settle into the new stable environment, Alexander will begin an acclimatisation program before stepping up Young Rascal’s work. In six weeks he plans to have the gelding up to even time.

A three-time Group 3 winner, Young Rascal was formerly trained in the United Kingdom by William Haggas. Now, the 5yo is set to commence a preparation with lofty spring goals. Both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups are on the horse’s radar.

It is certainly an exciting road ahead for all involved!
