Trio of imported stayers heading to Morphettville

On Saturday we have somewhat of a rare occurrence, as we saddle up three horses in Race 2 at Morphettville over the 2500m. Kellstorm, Shakopee and Nordic Flight are all travelling to Morphettville for the first time, and we will be hoping for good showing from each.

Kellstorm galloped well on Wednesday morning for Darren Weir and is in good order for what will be his 5th start on Australian soil. Kellstorm was a late scratching in a race at Sandown last week, after he got a bump on the truck to Sandown and was a touch sore on inspection. He has since been given the all clear from the vets to race on Saturday. Kellstorm will be hoping for some rain in Adelaide, as he has placed in every start on tracks with the sting out of the ground. Paul Gatt jumps on board and will jump from barrier 14, carrying 54.5kg’s.

Nordic Flight had a gallop on Tuesday and Thursday and is in good form for the race. We will be hoping for a much better showing in his third start for Archie Alexander. Archie has chosen to put the blinkers on Nordic Flight in the hope of an improved run. He has had a lot of success with the blinkers on, which includes a Listed victory in Germany and also a placing in a Group 3 so we will be looking for a lot of improvement from him. Dom Tourneur is set to take the ride from barrier 5 and will carry 59.5kg’s.

Last but not lease is Shakopee who impressed in a gallop last Thursday. After the impressive jump out, Simon Morrish expects him to be competitive, in what is an even race. Similarly to Kellstorm, Shakopee won’t mind some moisture on the Morphettville track, as his best runs have been on rain affected tracks. His form stacks up for this race, as he unluckily missed the placings in his last start at Flemington over a similar distance. Noel Carrow will carry 59kg’s for the race and will jump next to Nordic Flight in barrier 4.
Good luck to all the connections involved, in what should be a highly competitive race.
