Trainer In Focus – Archie Alexander

In just two and a half years as a trainer Archie Alexander has achieved a great deal. Nothing is more impressive than his results since December 1 last year. Seven winners have greeted the judge first from only 25 starters – a remarkable 28% strike rate.

From his Ballarat stable, Archie had an unbelievable start to his training career when recording a Listed winner with just his 16th start. That was OTI’s Renew in the Sandown Cup.  Soon after, Archie went on to record a Group 3 win when quality sprinter/miler Amorino.

The inevitable lull followed after such an outstanding beginning.  Now with treadmill and water walking facilities added to his Ballarat facility, Archie has honed his processes to now  be at the top of his game. He task has been immeasurably enhanced with the support of his fiancé Annie Bowles and his great team.

The stable’s wins have come all from around Victoria including the prime racetracks at Sandown, Bendigo and Geelong.  Two features of his success are the relationship with young hoop Jordan Childs and the race placement his horses – both are not letting him down.

Archie has now been entrusted with 12 horses who carry OTI silks.  These include the recent additions Fandango, Fastnet Latina and a lovely 2yo filly by Redwood.  While yet to have stepped out for him on race day, we hope that these 3 can help Archie continue his push up the Victorian Premiership standings in the near future.
