Courtesy of another impressive win on Friday night at Cranbourne (her third from four career starts), Toregene has now qualified for the $500,000 Country Series Final at Flemington on Oaks Day in November.
The now 4yo daughter of Mongolian Khan broke her maiden on debut at the Warrnambool Carnival in May, where she impressed with a strong run on a heavy track. After a run at Flemington where she failed to execute, Toregene was able to bounce back well, winning at Swan Hill her next start.
Given time to mature further, she resumed a new campaign with Matthew Williams in fine style, winning first-up at Cranbourne last Friday in the qualifier for the Country Series Final. With that win, she has secured a spot in the final on Oaks Day at Flemington. At this stage, she will contest the 1500m Benchmark 78 on Geelong Cup Day as her final lead up race.
She is a mare that has shown a lot of quality, and we’re hoping she can provide redemption for the Williams/OTI combination after Harbour Views finished 2nd in the final back in 2019.
Congratulations again to all involved!
