Tophet graduates from early education

Tophet, a yearling colt by Hellbent, has successfully finished his initial educational preparation and will head for a short spell prior to entering the Anthony & Sam Freedman stable at Pinecliff next time in. The colt has pleased his educator throughout his early work and has progressed well through the stages of his training.

The colt himself is a most attractive looking, strong, athletic individual. On both conformation and breeding, he looks like a 1600m type, although his fluent movement may mean he could be effective at shorter distances.

By Hellbent out of Etoile, the colt has bloodlines that reinforce our confidence that he’ll be a fine racehorse. The son of I’m Invincible, Hellbent has already 29 winning horses this season and sits 2nd on the second years sires list. Etoile, the colts dam, is by the European champion 3yo stayer Pour Moi. Her sister is the multiple stakes winner Lady Le Fay and she descends from a quality family that has produced numerous Group 1 performers.

Given Hellbent’s success to date, we would hope to see Tophet progress to trial stage on return and race towards the end of his 2yo season. His 2yo season will be developed with a view to having him ready for the 3yo classics should he prove to have the quality.

All is in place to see that he gets every chance to reach his potential.
