Three spring hopefuls bound for Bendigo

In a week that features plenty of runners both domestically and internationally, we have three promising runners in Bendigo on Thursday that will be looking to bigger races this spring.

Lord Fandango is the first of runners and will line up in a Benchmark 78 race over 1600m. The former English galloper has shown plenty of promise since arriving in Australia and has already managed to notch up a win in his three starts. His form in the U.K was very strong, with some of the horses he was competitive with going onto much bigger races since. His regular jockey, Jordan Childs will retain the ride and will carry 57.5kg’s from barrier 5. While he may need further distances before we see the best of him, we are still expecting a good showing from him in his first start back for Archie Alexander.

Mighty Quinn is the second of our runners in Bendigo and will line up in a Benchmark 64 over 1400m. After such a promising debut where he stormed to the line at Pakenham to finish second, he will go straight into a Benchmark 64 after a 26-week break. With all things going to plan this campaign, it would likely lead him ending up in the Victorian Derby in early November. Jordan Childs will ride from barrier 9 and carry 56kg’s. We will be expecting a good showing from him first-up as he aims towards much bigger things this campaign.

The last of our runners at Bendigo, is By Design, in a Benchmark 64 over 1600m. The promising four-year-old hasn’t been able to break through and win in Australia, although he does have a convincing win next to his name in New Zealand. Matthew Allen will take the ride from barrier 3 and carry 58.5kg’s. We are expecting a good showing from him the Darren Weir trained galloper, and we expect even more improvement from him when he steps out to further distances this campaign.

Good luck to all connections involved.
