This Noble Steed is an Exciting Acquisition

Arriving in Australia next week is our latest acquisition from New Zealand, Noble Steed. An impressive trial winner in August, the 4yo will join the formidable team of Anthony & Sam Freedman at Mornington.

In his trial over 1000m, Noble Steed could not have created a better impression. The son of Zed (the sire of Verry Elleegant) sat at the rear of the field before circling from the 600m to win by over 3 lengths. Despite being 5-wide on the turn on a heavy-rated track, the gelding’s continued acceleration through the line was obvious for all to see. It was the work of a serious galloper.

The Melbourne Cup-winning trainers will look to work Noble Steed through his grades during the spring, with one eye on his autumn preparation. Noble Steed has the bloodlines of a top 3200m performer, with major influences from Zed and Pentire. It is likely, then, that the Adelaide and Sydney Cups will be circled on the calendar as future targets.

Noble Steed – a most exciting addition to the stable and one to watch for the spring and beyond. May he live up to his name and be ‘honourable in battle’ for his connections.
