The winners flowed

OTI recorded four winners for partners in what was an exciting weekend of racing.

Our European contingent maintained a fantastic strike rate taking out 3 races over the weekend. A highlight run was Mr Satchmo, winning the Listed Prix Le Fabuleux at Chantilly, France over 1800m. A nose the winner, he fought on well to hit the line strongly.

At Wolverhampton, Decoration of War proved his last win wasn’t a fluke and rallied to win by 1 ¾ of a length at Wolverhampton for trainer Ilka Gansera-Leveque. A horse on the up, we are looking forward to seeing how he progresses.

Back in France at Tarbes, Touchthesoul could not be caught over the 2300m journey. In a competitive field of ten horses, he settled nicely in behind the speed and stormed home over the top of them, winning impressively by 3.5 lengths.

Master Zephyr was the standout in Australia – pulling it out of the bag to win the Hamilton Cup for trainer Darren Weir. In what was a tough task for Master Zephyr, having drawn the widest barrier, he was ridden to perfection by Christine Puls, taking an inside run and powering past the field to win by a length.

Other highlights for the weekend included Fastnet Tempest’s impressive 2nd place in the Listed Weekend Hussler Stakes. Angelic Spirit also had a turn around in form to run a solid second place on Cranbourne Cup day, with Gallic Chieftain running a creditable fourth place in the G2 Herbert Power Stakes at Caulfield – he will now back up in the Caulfield Cup. Manangatang also proved to have turned a corner for trainer Dale Wagstaff, jumping safely from the barriers and being brave to the line for a third placing at Randwick.

With the Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate, Derby and Melbourne Cup fast approaching, we are looking forward to continuing our winning form for the remainder of the Spring Carnival.
