Te Akau Shark’s full brother secured by OTI

OTI is not renowned for buying at yearling sales, however, with the full brother to Te Akau Shark available, we’ve made an exception.

With the assistance of Mckeever Bloodstock, we are delighted to have secured the exceptional Rip Van Winkle x Bak Da Chief colt via the draft of Woburn Farm Cambridge.

Purchased at the recent Inglis Easter Yearling Sales, this fellow is the full brother to dual Group 1 winner Te Akau Shark, who himself accounted for champion mare Verry Elleegant in the 2020 Chipping Norton Stakes after finishing a brave third in the 2019 Cox Plate.

This imposing type is by champion European miler Rip Van Winkle who himself was a triple Group 1 winner by arguably the greatest sire of all time, Galileo.

Our CEO Terry Henderson was thrilled to obtain the progeny of a proven Group performed family.

Henderson confirmed that the exciting prospect will join his classy unraced half-brother Gambu in the care of Chris Waller.

“We have been delighted by the progress of Te Akau Shark’s half-brother Gambu in recent months, which led us to assess the quality of his full brother at Inglis Easter,” Henderson said.

“While a late foal, this colt is an athletic, well-conformed type who has the attributes to develop into a classics type. Most importantly he has the page to back up his lovely physical profile.”
