Super Wednesday at Sandown

On Wednesday OTI will be represented in 3 races at Sandown, all of which are imported from New Zealand.

To kick off the day, So Far Sokool – who headlines our Gen X package – will have her Australian debut in Race 1 over 1000m.  This filly comes to AUS with great form in NZ, finishing 2nd in a Listed race on a heavy track at her most recent start over 1400m in May. Archie Alexander has given this filly plenty of time to adjust to her new life since arriving at Ballarat. She may find the 1000m a touch short, but we should see her in the firing line.

By Design is next up in Race 3 over 1800m.  This will be his 2nd run since arriving at AUS under Darren Weir’s care at the end of last year. The son of Roc De Cambes put in quite a solid first-up run at Swan Hill over 1600m on a Heavy10.  Although still very green down the straight we should see an improved performance 2nd up.

Night’s Watch is our last runner for the day in Race 8 over 1400m. This Kiwi import by Redwood has thrived since his arrival to AUS in Darren Weir’s stable.  His AUS debut at Bendigo made for compelling viewing!  The gelding misbehaved at the barriers and was wayward down the home straight, where he just managed to pip Duke Of Nottingham at the post.  Darren Weir and Mark Zahra both reported after the race of the horses’ talent and how much improvement is yet to come once some of his quirky behavior is ironed out.  All going well, he should prove hard to beat here.
