Summer Cup Racing

After a thrilling win in the Listed ATC Cup from Baby Rider a few weeks ago, we look forward to seeing him step out again at Randwick in the Group 3 Summer Cup. This time around, he will be joined by our Listed Ipswich Cup winner Regal Lion, who has also accepted to race.

It was a first Australian win for Baby Rider in the Listed event at Randwick at the start of December and a good push for his connections of what could follow in the future. The 6yo gelding worked strongly on Tuesday at his home track and is in good order for the Group 3 test.

Baby Rider wins the Listed ATC Cup at Randwick.

Rachel King, who rode Baby Rider in his work on Tuesday, commented “He is feeling very good. He got into a lovely rhythm and finished off strong. He’s ready to go again.”

“It was probably the best piece of work I’ve seen from him. He’s come along from his last run and looks great. The weight drop will certainly help and I think he can run another big race.”, added trainer Bjorn Baker.

Baby Rider will again be ridden by Rachel King and jumps from barrier 5 in a field of 11.

Regal Lion, who won the Ipswich Cup back in June, has since not been in the winners stall, but holds a good second up record in his career so far. The step up in trip to 2000m should see the gelding more competitive on Tuesday.

Regal Lion will jump from barrier eight, carrying 53.5kg.

Best of luck to all connections of Baby Rider and Regal Lion!
